2018 Sexual Assault Investigator's
Association of Ontario Conference
The Sexual Assault Investigator's Association of Ontario (SAIAO), in partnership with the OSOR and ViCLAS, present a three-day conference for officers and civilians who are investigating or managing sexual assault occurrences.
The conference runs from November 13 to 15, in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
Speakers include:
Kevin Mulcahy: Assistant U.S. Attorney in Detroit and survivor of child sexual abuse
Jim Stephenson: Father of Christopher Stephenson and the creation of the Ontario Sex Offender Registry
Glen Canning: Father of Rehtaeh Anne Parsons discusses his daughter's suicide due to sexual violence

NCAC Child Forensic Interviewing

The NCAC Child Forensic Interview Structure is a flexible structure that can be adapted to children of different ages and cultural backgrounds, and is appropriate for interviewing children who may have experienced sexual or physical abuse or who may be a witness to violence. The NCAC forensic interview model emphasizes a flexible-thinking and decision-making approach throughout the interview, as opposed to a scripted format. Each component of the model is research-based and is reviewed annually for appropriate additions or adaptations, by a panel of practicing experts.

Internationally recognized, the Crimes Against Children Conference is the premier conference of its kind providing practical and interactive instruction to those fighting crimes against children and helping children heal. There were more than 4,300 professionals from around the world in 2017! The conference is presented annually by the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center and the Dallas Police Department. The conference is conducted to provide training to those employed by government or non profit agencies in the fields of law enforcement, child protective services, social work, children's advocacy, therapy, and medicine who work directly with child victims of crime.

The theme is “Bold Moves: Ending Sexual Violence in One Generation.” This event will be cohosted with the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape (PCAR) and the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC). A call for proposals will be released in November 2017, and registration will open in April 2018.

We consistently bring together law enforcement personnel, prosecutors, victim advocates, judges, parole and probation officers, rape crisis workers, health care professionals, faith community members, educators, researchers and others in this three day conference highlighting promising practices and emerging issues to effectively respond to these crimes in all of our communities.
